Jay Schock - Outstanding Staff 2015-2016

Jay Schock
Financial Aid Counselor

Linda Parker presenting Jay Schock with the SDRC Recognition AwardSDRC is delighted to recognize Jay Schock for outstanding service to students with disabilities.

Students with disabilities often face challenges when it comes to navigating their financial aid. SDRC students sometimes take less than a full unit load, or need to fully or partially withdraw for disability-related reasons. All of these actions have financial aid implications, and students need assistance in evaluating options and consequences.

Jay provides this assistance to students in a friendly and approachable manner. He is great at explaining technical and sometimes confusing information about unit deficiencies in a clear manner so students know their options and can avoid losing their financial aid eligibility.

Jay also keeps us all in the loop when it comes to financial aid matters. He meets personally with students about their concerns and he promptly offers assistance when we call on our students’ behalf. Jay even initiates contact with SDRC when he suspects a disability issue may be affecting a student’s financial aid status.

Jay has a friendly and low key manner that students find reassuring. And here at SDRC, we love knowing we’ll get a cheerful and quick response from Jay no matter what financial aid issue we throw at him!

Thank you, Jay, for your exemplary service in providing access to financial aid for students with disabilities. You are much appreciated and we are grateful!
